LYNDA HANSEN - PRODUCER

Lynda Hansen has been active in U.S. Independent and international film for 25 years — discovering, developing, nurturing, funding, advising, programming, and marketing hundreds of films and their makers. Many have achieved worldwide recognition. Among them — Amir Bar-Lev, Jennifer Fox, Maysles Films, Kelly Reichardt, M. Night Shayamalan, Richard Linklater, Joe Berlinger, Sandi Dubowski, D.A.Pennebaker/Chris Hedgedus, and Errol Morris.

Her executive credits include: Program Director, The New York Foundation for the Arts; Founder, American Independent and Features Abroad at the Berlin International Film Festival; Co-Founder/Co-Chair, First Look Screening Series, a high profile, joint program with Tribeca Film Center, Kodak, and NYFA; Executive VP, Mystic Fire Video; U.S. Representative to the Berlin Festival's International Forum; Director of Programming, Hamptons International Film Festival; Co-Producer and Rights Agent/PMD, Deborah Dickson's multi-award-winning documentary, RUTHIE & CONNIE: EVERY ROOM IN THE HOUSE (HBO).

Hansen is a frequent Juror and Presenter/Moderator at film conferences, film schools and festivals, including Cannes, Toronto, Nashville, Prague, Mill Valley, Mannheim, Indo-American Arts Council, Full Frame, Lake Placid, Hawaii, and Berlin Film Festivals. Film conferences and film Schools include, IFP (NY), IFP (Chicago), NYU, SVA, NYWIFT. She has curated special programs at such Festivals as the Munich and Hawaii International Film Festivals. At the LA Independent Film Festival, in collaboration with Bob Hawk, she curated a retrospective of independent film from the sixties.

She has juried grants and award panels. Among them, the Emmys, the Student Academy Awards, The Princess Grace Foundation, the Independent Spirit Someone to Watch Award, and has recommended artists for the Rockefeller Foundation Grantees. Hansen has served on the Board of Directors of New York Women In Film and Television and on Advisory Boards that include IFC’s Next Wave Films, the Waterfront Film Festival, the Gen Art Film Festival, the High Falls Film Festival, the Los Angeles Independent Film Festival.

Hansen’s career began with her producing, directing, and editing the half-hour short, WHAT’S IMPORTANT. Her writing credits include a groundbreaking two-part series on cable television for Filmmaker Film and Video Monthly, and celebrity and indie filmmaker profiles for such magazines as American Premiere and Millimeter.
